After denying that leaked images of one of its latest Hyundai models were false, Hyundai has released a handful of new promotional photos - including the alleged fake.

While mystery continues to surround the upcoming 2012 Hyundai Genesis Coupe, the Korean car manufacturer confirmed last week (November 10) that the Hyundai model will undergo a significant facelift.

Earlier spy photos indicated that lights at the front and tail of the car would be updated - influenced by the recent Hyundai Veloster sports hatch.

An updated interior is also expected, while the marque's new 3.8 litre V6 and 2.0 litre engines have been confirmed as a feature in the updated model, mirroring the 248 kilowatt engine upgrade recently given to the Hyundai Genesis Sedan.

A new eight-speed automatic transmission could potentially replace the five- and six-speed transmissions of the previous Hyundai models.

According to industry website The Motor Report, an Australia debut for the 2012 Hyundai Genesis Coupe had been held up by the absence of a right-hand-drive version, however pressure from the UK market has led to the development being given the go ahead.
